Aveeno Oat Cleanser: My Sensitive Skin Saviour!

SkincareOctober 21, 20252 min read

OMG, this Aveeno cleanser actually works! My red, angry skin is finally calm and happy. You can grab it from Boots here [affiliate].

Okay, so you know how my skin basically throws a massive strop if I even LOOK at a new product? Yeah, that's my life. I've been struggling with redness and sensitivity, especially with this rubbish UK weather constantly changing. So, I tried this Aveeno Face Calm+Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser when I saw it promising to soothe and calm. "Why not?" I thought. I got mine from Boots here View Product, hoping it wouldn't be another waste of money. I've wasted so much money on products that don't work!

First impressions? The texture is dreamy, honestly. It's like a super-light, creamy lotion. Unlike some cleansers that feel stripping, this one felt instantly soothing. It doesn't really have a strong scent, which is a massive plus for my sensitive nose. Some cleansers smell so chemically, yuck! This one is very mild. I massaged it onto my damp face, and it felt really gentle, not at all abrasive. It rinsed off easily, leaving my skin feeling clean but not tight.

Now, for the real test – the experience. I used it morning and night for three weeks. I didn't notice a HUGE difference the first few days, but my skin didn't freak out, which is always a win. Around day five, I looked in the mirror and realised my cheeks weren't as red as usual. Like, noticeably less inflamed. By week two, my skin felt genuinely calmer. The little dry patches I usually get around my nose were gone. Even my husband, who never notices anything, asked if I was using something new because my skin looked "less angry" (his words!). This surprised me.

Unlike the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, which always leaves a slight film on my skin, this Aveeno one rinses clean. And unlike the Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Oil, it doesn't make my skin feel greasy afterwards. It just feels…balanced. Look, here's the thing: if you wear a lot of heavy makeup, you might need to double cleanse. It's great for everyday grime and light makeup, but for a full face of glam, something stronger might be needed first. In my experience, that's usually the case with gentle cleansers.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely! In fact, I've already stocked up. I keep it next to my toothbrush so I don't forget. It's perfect for anyone with sensitive, easily irritated skin that needs a bit of TLC. If you have oily skin, this might be a bit too nourishing, but for dry or combination skin, it's a winner. Honestly, for the price (£5.65!), it's a total steal. I've found it really good value.

The Verdict: This cleanser is brilliant for sensitive skin. It's gentle, effective, and affordable. What's not to love? Trust me on this.

Pros:

* Super gentle and soothing

* Reduces redness and inflammation

* Leaves skin feeling clean and hydrated

* Affordable

* No strong scent

Cons:

* Might not be enough for heavy makeup removal

* Potentially too rich for very oily skin
