Obsessed: Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel Review

SkincareOctober 19, 20253 min read

Honestly, this Dermalogica cleanser transformed my skin! Read my real-life review after 3 weeks of use (and find out if it's worth the £65 price tag!).

Okay, so you know how I've been moaning about my skin being dull and congested since the weather changed? Well, I decided enough was enough! I finally bit the bullet and bought Dermalogica's Special Cleansing Gel after seeing it raved about everywhere. I got mine from Boots here View Product because they had a deal on.

First impressions? The texture is lovely – like a silky gel. Not at all sticky or foamy like some cleansers I've tried. It's got this subtle, almost herbal scent that I've found really calming, which is a bonus in the mornings when I'm rushing around like a crazy person. The first time I used it, my skin felt clean but not stripped. Huge win! Some cleansers leave my skin feeling tight and dry, but this one felt really balanced.

Right, so the experience. I've been using it religiously for three weeks, morning and night. For the first few days, I didn't notice a massive difference, but my skin definitely felt cleaner. Then, on day five? I looked in the mirror and realised my skin looked brighter. Like, genuinely brighter! My usual dullness had gone, and I had this subtle glow. I was shook, I tell you!

After a week, I started to notice a difference in my pores around my nose. They looked smaller and less congested. I also had fewer breakouts, which is a HUGE win for me. I normally get at least one or two spots a week, but during the second week of using this cleanser, I didn't get any. Zero! It's much better than that Simple cleanser I was using – that did nothing except clean my face. Honestly, a waste of money. It's also way better than the Liz Earle cleanser, which, for me, left my skin feeling oily. No thanks.

By week three, my skin is genuinely looking the best it has in ages. It's clearer, brighter, and just feels healthier. My husband even commented on it, which is saying something! I keep it next to my toothbrush so I don't forget to use it, which has helped me stay consistent. It's not a miracle worker – I still have some fine lines (hello, I'm not getting any younger!), but overall, my skin is much improved. Look, here's the thing, it's pricey so if you're on a budget it might be something you save up for, or look for discounts on.

The verdict? I am 100% repurchasing this. It's become a staple in my skincare routine, and I can't imagine being without it now. It is a little expensive at £65.00, but a little goes a long way. It's perfect for anyone with normal to combination skin who wants a gentle but effective cleanser that will leave their skin feeling clean, bright, and balanced. If you have super oily skin, it might not be enough on its own, but for me, it's a total lifesaver.

Pros:

* Gentle and non-drying

* Leaves skin feeling clean and balanced

* Brightens skin and reduces dullness

* Reduces breakouts

* Smells lovely

Cons:

* Pricey

* May not be enough for very oily skin
